Mit Songs wie My Time Is Your Time und I'm Just a Vagabond Lover wurde Rudy VallΓ©e Ende der 1920er-Jahre ΓΌber die CafehΓ€user Manhattans hinaus bekannt.cite-ref-2[2] Er war bald mit romantischen Songs wie Deep Night βmusikalisches Sexsymbol der spΓ€ten 20er fΓΌr viele junge MΓ€dchen, der VorlΓ€ufer von Entertainern wie Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley und The Beatlesβ. βDeep night, stars in the sky aboveβ, heiΓt es in VallΓ©es Liedtext zur Musik des Songwriters und Gesangscoachs Charles Henderson, βdeep in the arms of loveβ. Rudy VallΓ©e and His Connecticut Yankees nahm den Song am 6. Februar 1928 fΓΌr Victor Records auf (#21868). Neben VallΓ©e war auch Ruth Etting mit ihrer Version des Songs (Columbia 1801-D) erfolgreich in den amerikanischen Hitparaden. VallΓ©e stellte den Song in einem Vitaphone-Musikkfilm vor und spielte den Song am 11. August 1937 erneut ein (Bluebird 7140).
